What was done

Even though I didn't feel that great today, I still tried to do some cleaning since no one else ever does it....lol So this is what I managed to get done today.

I unloaded the dishwasher, loaded it back up. Cleaned the counters and stove, wiped down the faucet area and behind it.
I finally finished dusting the living room.
Washed some glass items and glass table tops in the living room
Deep cleaned the bathroom
Swept the bathroom and stairs
Washed the stairs
Put items away that was laying around the family room
Took care of shoes and coats

Nicole did finally vacuum my whole downstairs today.

That was it, then it was off to crochet.

Time to Go

I discovered today while dusting that I just have to much stuff laying out. To much to dust and with all my cats I have, there is just to much hair that flies around. I try to keep up with the cat hair, that is when ever someone decides to vacuum for me. But the more you have out, the more you have to dust and the longer it is going to take. So, I think I'm going to put half of it away and then next month rotate my stuff. I now have the family room, kitchen, bathroom, living room deep dust cleaning done. Now it is time for the upstairs. But I will not start that until I get some stuff boxed away for next months rotating visit.
I'm really getting bad about sticking with a project that I start. I'm going to have to keep pushing on and make myself finish before starting something else.

Dusting

Today was a day of just dusting. It seems to need it more then once a week. I have several cats in my house and the hair seems to get on everything. But since I got most of the house picked up over the weekend, dusting is what is left. I did do the normal picking up today. I haven't finished the whole house yet, but that is what I'll be working on this week. Along with the other normal things that need up keeping.

3. Did 3 loads of laundry, folded and put away
4. Washed walls going up the stairs and down the hall
5. Swept stairs and bathroom floor

Can't remember if there was something else, but I think that is enough for a Saturday

Today was a good cleaning day

I did really good at cleaning in the kitchen today. I got several more cabinets cleaned out and washed. Plus, I did under the sink. I just don't feel like typing out step by step today.

So this is what it looks like before and after. Now mind you it is gross, I have pigs that spill and don't clean anything up, so over time it has added up. This cabinet is under my stove. I never realized it was that bad....lol I need a new bottom board under the sink, so I couldn't really wash it, so I just cleaned it out and put some paper towels down till this summer.

UGH, its the kitchen, gross!

Today was cleaning the kitchen day. I have this old paper that was lined on the board in my cabinet bottom half. So today I removed paper from 2 cabinets. Cleaned all the wood. Looks like it will need some painting this summer. So, while sitting on the floor I thought, why stop there. Since I'm down here, why not clean the outside of the cabinet doors at the same time. So, I didn't get as far as I wanted with the inside cabinets. So here is the check off list:

1. Removed dishes and paper
2. Cleaned inside 2 cabinets
3. Put dishes back in
4. Washed all bottom cabinets outside doors in the kitchen
5. Washed outside of Microwave
6. Washed outside of Dishwasher
7. Washed outside of Refrigerator
8. Washed outside of Oven

9. Washed 2 loads of laundry
10. Folded and put clothes away

Then decided I had enough, time to go take some winter pictures while it was snowing...lol
So, I get all cleaned up and wouldn't you know it, it stopped snowing...lol

But while cleaning yesterday, I came across two items that I had forgotten about in a box upstairs. Pictures are my decorating site. Go take a look.

This Weeks Challenge

This weeks challenge with my friend Deana is cleaning the kitchen from top to bottom. My cabinets are in big time need since no one seems to put things in the right places. Refrigerate needs a good cleaning. Doing these challenges with Deana helps keep my house in line. So for that I'm thankful. As usual, I'll post as the week goes on.

1-19-07

Today was a very busy day. ON and OFF the computer. This morning I starting working more on my photography store. Had more paypal buttons to complete, added more pictures. But all the while that I was doing that, I was also cleaning up more in this room. I think I have it about where I want it for now. I also loaded up the empty TV box with smaller boxes for storage. Cleaned up the family room, living room. Went through a ton of bags to decide what was trash, goodwill or yard sale. So now that is done but still all over my living room. I swept floors, cleaned up the hallway up here. Just a lot of up and down today. Feeling pretty tired

Not Much Here

So, my cleaning mode was next to nothing today. I spend most of it getting my store website running. But while taking my shower, I decided to at least give my shower doors some attention. So, now at least they are clean and looking nice. Then I cleaned the toilet, nasty nasty....lol Both were on my goal list for this week.

Always make a goal list at the beginning of the week and check them off when they are completed. Keeps you mind fresh without worrying about the important things you really wanted to do.

Happy Cleaning!!

Computer Room Day

Today was the start of a new challenge for the week with my friend Deana. We decided on the computer area. For me, that is a whole room. I have a very small office/computer room with way to much stuff in it. I have a metal wall shelf that has an 8 squares in the unit. It is such a eye sore. I decided to take fabric and pin it up around the shelf so you can't see what is behind it. I moved it closer to my desk and moved the make-up vanity to where the shelf was. I put a white towel over top of the vanity so I don't ruin the wood.

So here are the steps I took:

1. Empty out the shelves - done
2. Empty the top of vanity - done
3. Move shelf where vanity sat - done
4. Move vanity to where the shelf sat - done
5. Fill up shelf & throw out things I don't need - done
6. Put fabric around the shelf unit - done
7. Put towel on vanity, put things in order on top - done
8. Vacuum room - done

There is much more that I need to do in here, like going through the drawers and throwing out things I don't need or use. I need to dust. I have to find where I put the curtains again and wash them....lol But I'm much happier with the set up of the room now.

Here is a picture of my new vanity that my daughter got me for Christmas. I added some plastic drawers and a wicker basket to the top. Easy to grab what ever I need while sitting there...lol A bonus: My kitty, Munchkin, his blanket is under my vanity on the floor...lol

The Bedroom

It took some doing but I finally got the bedroom cleaned up. I made a list of what I wanted to do first and then went from there. It was this weeks challenge with my friend Deana. We had until tomorrow to get it clean.

1. Clean out Closet - done
2. Load up bags of no long used clothes for goodwill - done
3. Put things away - done
4. Make bed - done
5. Dust - done
6.Vacuum - done
7. Throw things away that was trash - done

The windows will have to wait till it is warmer outside, like spring. The windows are just to cold....lol.

I will show one picture on here and send the rest of the pictures to Deana's email so she can see what all I did.....lol

1-11-07

It's already hard to believe we are almost 2 weeks into the new year and I feel I haven't gotten very far in my cleaning. Today's cleaning never happened. The only thing I managed to do was make one big mess...lol. I got all the boxes for my Christmas ornaments out and was trying to load them back up, but somewhere along the line I ran out of room and have a ton more to put away. I don't have anymore things then last year really, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. So, that is still one mess I need to try and take care of today. I hope you all had a better cleaning day then I did.

Happy Cleaning

The List

I know it is all good and wonderful to make a list of things that need to be taken care of for the day. But what if there are obstacle's in your way around every corner? Its hard to clean when people don't pick after themselves.

With that said and done, the mode I was in today was, just try to pick up things and not stay in one room to long. I can no long vacuum, I have had tendonitis in both wrists, have had for years and my vacuum it to hard for me to push. Since NO ONE every seems to do it and I have asked and still not done, I had to do something. So, today I got down on my knees and used the hose around the wall area in the traffic zone.

Is it wrong of me to wish that my children would move out of my house???? lol I would have so much less work to do, less picking up after someone else. I love my kids, but there are times that I can't wait for them to leave the nest. My oldest has left the nest, he is 25 years old. Waiting on my daughter who is 22 years old. My youngest has a few more years, he will be 17 in March.

Here is the list:
Tomorrow

Bedroom

Clean off dressers in my bedroom
Dust everything in my room
Vacuum with the hose....lol
Make bed, (don't usually, upstairs, no one sees it)
Take summer clothes boxes and put in attic

Friday

Kitchen

Load dishwasher (I'm sure it will need it)
Wash counters
Wash stove
Clean inside and outside of Fridge
Clean outside of Dishwasher
Clean outside of Oven

Return pop cans that are in the way in the kitchen

I'm Not Alone

I know I'm not alone in this thinking, but woman, do you get sick and tired of cleaning up a room, or even just picking up a room and coming back 30 minutes later to find it a mess again? I know I am. I say we take back our homes. If our children want to behave like they are babies, then put them back in a crib till they learn to pick up their own messes. If dh has a problem picking his things up, send him back to his parents, let them teach him again....lol

New Site

Well I have a new website for cleaning. I will write down my cleaning duties for the day here. I just might throw in a picture or two as we go on along.
